THE BLUE HILL PENINSULA
or
HOW DID YOU EVER FIND THIS PLACE ?
The Coast of Maine has many 'fingers' reaching down into the
ocean, the by product of glacial activity a long time ago.
About half way between Camden and Bar Harbor is
the Blue Hill Peninsula. While most tourists drive east, straight
to Bar Harbor, The Heartfelt's head south to reach their
destination, Little Dear Isle, Maine.
The family makes a stop on Caterpillar Hill, south of Blue Hill,
to take in the sights. WOW, what a view, with all the islands
dotting the blue water. Hey look, you can see the Dear Isle Bridge
there on the left. They are almost there. And of course,
Yello Hoodie Boy has managed to find a real caterpillar.
The Dear Isle Bridge crosses Eggemoggin Reach which connects
Penobscot Bay with Blue Hill Bay, a favorite lane for sailboats.
They said the colors up here are spectacular....
and boy, were they right.
As the sun slowly sets, The Heartfelt's finally reach the Grindle's
'cottage'. There is Basil in the blueberry barren, Marge must have
sent him out to collect some berries for The Heartfelts.
Hello Hoodie gathers everyone for a group photo.
Marge has brought along a welcoming casserole and pie, and
Basil is giving Daddy B.B. a jug of his famous blueberry wine....
you better watch out, Daddy B.B....that stuff can sneak up on you.
The sun has set and the stars are shining. The girls are heating up
dinner while everyone else unpacks the car. It is certainly beautiful
here....By the way, just what kind of casserole is that anyway?
Lobster Mac and Cheese.
And the pie?.....Downeast Blueberry...
Ah...do you mind and extra guest for dinner?
After a great dinner, it's time for the kids to hit the sack.
As Daddy and Red bring Lil' Miss to bed, they pause to
admire the Moonrise over the bay.
It's beautiful....Remember, Lil Miss Candy Drop, there is
more to life than T.V. and computers.
Good Night Everybody.
