THE LAST ROLL CALL IN MAINE

THE HEARTFELTS

SUMMER RENTAL
Episode 18

A HEARTFELT FAMILY VACATION IN
MAINE

Let's join The Heartfelt Family as they travel to 'Vacationland'
to spend a month on the Shore of Little Dear Isle.

From almost anywhere in the Country, if you set
your compass Northeast, you will eventually  end
up at The Great State of Maine.

THE LAST ROLL CALL IN MAINE

So, just what is it about a Lobster Roll ?
It's kind of weird, Crustacean meat and mayo packed
into a roll you can only find in New England.
Plus, it's difficult to eat....But the taste, the sense of the ocean
with the buttery crunch from the farm, a Downeast Surf n' Turf.
Daddy B.B. maintains that it should be eaten within the
smell of the ocean....But then again,
he's a true lobster roll fanatic.

Well, it's finally the Heartfelt's last day in Maine.
Red received an email from their friends, Betty Heartland and
Paul The Wine Guy. They have just arrived from Italy for a visit
with their friends, S.& S. Maineheart, who live near Portland.
It would be fun to see them on their way home so Daddy B. B. gets
everyone up super early, packed the car and is driving over the
Dear Isle Bridge just as the sun rises over Eggemoggin Reach.
They must make Portland by lunch.

They all meet at Sue and Steve's house. Hugs all around.
The Heartfelt's have taught their kids to be polite and to talk with adults,
no iPhones allowed. Yello Hoodie is introducing himself to
Steve while Lil'Miss Candy Drop is telling Sue about her nap.

Steve was raised in Maine so Daddy B.B. can't help himself...
He must find out where the Best Lobster Roll is around Portland.
Being a local, Steve thinks long and hard.....
Well, there is this place on Cape Elizabeth.....

Two Lights Lobster Shack.

"Quicker than a hungry seagull," they're at the Lobster Shack. Steve brings out
a beautiful tray of Lobster Rolls, Paul The Wine Guy provides
some Bubbly for the adults, Sue has the soft drinks with
Betty Heartland rounding it out with slices of Blueberry Pie.
It's a fitting final lunch, Lobster Rolls and friends.

Just one more stop, Nance Trueheart ( you remember her
from Red's Eats ) insists that The Heartfelt's visit Portland Headlight.
It's the most visited lighthouse in Maine and it doesn't take
much for Daddy B.B. to fit one more lighthouse in.
Nance wants to take a group photo....
Yello  Hoodie hates group photos....
he can't stand still.

It's now time to head the car west and leave Maine. It's been wonderful
and the lobster trap is the perfect place to store those boots.
Goodbye Maine.

THE END
